From Child Stars to College Students
Dylan and Cole both started acting when they were infants, sharing roles in commercials and TV shows thanks to child-labor laws. They became household names first with Big Daddy (1999) opposite Adam Sandler and then with The Suite Life of Zack & Cody on Disney Channel, which aired from 2005 to 2008 and spun off into The Suite Life on Deck and a movie.
After the Disney years ended, the brothers made a conscious decision to step back from acting to experience life outside Hollywood. Both enrolled at New York University—Dylan studying video game design and Cole diving into humanities and archaeology.
Dylan Sprouse: Actor and Entrepreneur
While Dylan returned to acting after college, his path has been more varied than simply following the Disney blueprint. Some highlights of his post-Disney career:
- Film roles: Dylan starred in films like Aftermath (2024), an action thriller that premiered on streaming platforms and showcased his range beyond comedic Disney parts.
- Business ventures: Beyond acting, Dylan co-founded All-Wise Meadery, a craft mead business based in Brooklyn, showing his interest in entrepreneurship.
- Modeling and media: Alongside creative work, Dylan engages in occasional modeling and public media appearances.
- Personal life: He married Hungarian model Barbara Palvin in 2023 and the couple has appeared together in fashion campaigns and public events.
Dylan has talked about wanting to work with his brother again someday, though he notes that good twin roles are rare and it would have to be something special.
Cole Sprouse: From Disney to Dramatic Roles and Photography
Cole’s career has taken a somewhat different route:
Riverdale breakout: His most recognizable post-Disney role came as Jughead Jones on Riverdale (2017–2023), a darker, more dramatic show based on Archie Comics.
Film work: Beyond television, Cole has appeared in movies such as Five Feet Apart (2019) and Lisa Frankenstein (2024).
Photography: In addition to acting, Cole is an accomplished photographer who has shot editorial work for major fashion magazines.
Personal life: He has been in a long-term relationship with model Ari Fournier since 2021.
Life Beyond the Screen
Even though both Dylan and Cole returned to acting, they’ve made it clear that they value balance, creative exploration, and autonomy over simply chasing roles. Their education at NYU gave them a broader perspective on the entertainment industry and life beyond it, shaping who they are as adults rather than just as former child stars.
The brothers remain close, though their careers now reflect their individual interests rather than a team identity. Fans still hope for a future project that brings them together on screen—but it’s clear that they’re both carving unique paths.
